Resisting high-tech surveillance in Chicago

Developed in partnership with abolitionist movements and transformative justice organizations, Imperial Policing examines the ways that local and federal agencies use high-tech surveillance equipment, massive police databases, and coordinated campaigns to suppress communities of color in Chicago. It also addresses resistance to high-tech surveillance and weaponized data, including the Erase the Database campaign. The authors will discuss their findings and facilitate a conversation about movement-led research and the relevance of the book for abolitionist struggles from Chicago to Palestine.

Venue: Pilsen Community Books, 1102 W. 18th Street
